How to Give Yourself a Spa - Level Facial At Home

Weekends are for recharging.

And what better way to recharge than by scrubbing off all the grime from the week with a facial?

I'm going to share with you my exact method* for how I achieve all the spa quality goodness right in my tiny bathroom at home.

This is a perfect pick-me-up when the kids finally go to bed and I have the evening all to myself.

Step 1: Resurfacing scru

Fun Fact: you're shedding 40,000 skin cells throughout the day (gross) so its essential to keep your skin exfoliated and moisturized to keep it in good condition.

An easy way to do this is to start with this salt + sugar face and body scrub. It sloughs away dull, dead skin cells and encourages younger, more vibrant cells to the surface so you see brighter, smoother skin after just one use.

Use this in place of your cleanser for facial purposes, massage onto dry skin for 30 to 60 seconds, rinse then pat dry.

Step 2: Pore cleansing and blackhead extraction

Now that all that dead skin is cleared, it's time to tackle some pore cleansing.

Clogged, congested pores and blackheads can lead to enlarged pores and breakouts, and with more than 10,000 pores on your face, the odds are not in your favor.

Clogged pores happen when there’s a build-up of excess oil, debris and dead skin cells. They’re flat and enlarged at the surface, often with slight discoloration and are most commonly found in the oily T-zone area. Blackheads happen when the clogged pore becomes exposed to air. They’re dark, hardened and slightly raised at the surface.

These pore problems are common and can affect all ages, skin types, gender and ethnicities.

But don't worry; this pore tool provides precise suction and pressure to help you achieve and maintain a clearer, healthier, more radiant-looking complexion. What I love about this tool is it's rechargeable and delivers suction at two different speeds depending on how stubborn your pores are. It also comes with 8 disposable tips: 4 pore cleansing and 4 blackhead removal. This means your never subjected to having to clean yet another tool. Better yet, the whole family can use it and never have to share tips!

Step 3: Soothing, softening and calming mask

The sun's rays, temperature, stress and hormones break down skin's natural moisture barrier, allowing allergens and irritants to disrupt the skin's calm. When your moisture barrier is compromised, moisture can escape and irritants can get through to skin.

Dermatology-inspired and clinically tested, this soothing green clay mask provides instant results of softer, smoother-looking skin as it works to visibly reduce redness and blotchiness and moisturize over time.

Especially after cleaning out your pores, you may notice some redness. But lucky for you, this mask contains calamine, and calamine calms and neutralizes irritants to help relieve stressed skin.

Step 4: Microneedling

Bad news - by age 30, our collagen production slows to 1% each year, and by the time we hit 40, collagen deteriorates faster than it can be produced.

Depressing, right?

But here's the good news - there is something you can do about it and it takes less than 1 minute per night.

Microneedling (a.k.a. derma-rolling)

Think of it like aerating your lawn. The goodness you put on after absorbs better, which in turn gives you improved results.

Make sense? Okay, good.

Now, this is NOT for you if you have:

✖ active breakouts

✖ highly sensitive skin

This IS for you IF you want to

- improve pitted acne scarring

- improve the firmness and smoothness of skin

- prevent fine lines from forming before their time

- Revitalizes the uppermost layers of skin for visibly advanced skin firming benefit

- Empowers skin's renewing process to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

- Conditions skin while visibly evening tone and texture.

- Improves absorption of other products to accelerate and enhance results.

This derma roller is perfectly paired with its anti-aging bae, VITAMIN A, to give you vibrant, younger-looking skin.

Step 5: Hydrating serum

There is a BIG difference between your skin being MOISTURIZED and your skin being HYDRATED.

When your skin is dehydrated, it's lacking water. When it's dry, it's lacking oil. Using a moisturizer on dehydrated skin isn't addressing the problem, which is why you may find yourself reapplying over and over again throughout the day.

Think of it this way:

What's the difference between a grape and a raisin?

Same fruit, different skin.

Dehydrated skin looks OLDER, and no one wants that.

This hydration serum is like a tall drink of water for your skin. It boosts skin’s hydration level by 200% after just one use, and balances moisture levels while it preps skin to better receive products applied after.

Step 6: Retinal serum

Remember that anti-aging bae I mentioned earlier? THIS IS IT.

Retinal is different from retinol - it's a more potent form of Vitamin A (the closest you can get to prescription strength, actually) but it's formulated to be gentle enough for daily use.

This nighttime serum empowers skin's natural renewing process to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while revealing vibrant, younger-looking skin.

The best part?

It comes in cool little individual capsules. This ensures the efficacy you get on day 60 is the same strength as what you got on day one.

Step 7: Bakuchiol moisturizer

This is quite possibly one of my most favorite steps, because it literally works while I'm sleeping.

Once I put it on, this potent, lightweight nighttime lotion goes to work reducing the appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles.

Bonus: it now visibly lifts, firms + sculpts to improve facial contours.

Unlike traditional overnight moisturizers, it absorbs quickly while still leaving your skin moisturized and refreshed. I never feel like I'm going to wake up with my pillow stuck to my face or find all my lotion left on the pillowcase in the morning.
